October 4 in Vilafamés with music, art, and gastronomy
Vilafamés (Castellón) will host a new edition of the Slow Moments Festival on October 4, an event that celebrates gastronomy, culture, and tradition at a slow pace. This time, the spotlight will be on the olleta, the popular stew that unites the seven municipalities of the Plana de l’Arc: Benlloc, Cabanes, les Coves de Vinromà, la Torre d’en Doménec, Vall d’Alba, Vilafamés, and Vilanova d’Alcolea. Each town will prepare its own version of the dish, with recipes that vary depending on the season, offering attendees a journey of flavors that reflect the culinary diversity of the region.
The festival will take place in Vilafamés, recognized as one of the most beautiful villages in Spain for its historic stone old town, cobbled streets, and privileged views over the region. Located in the heart of the Plana de l’Arc, the village combines medieval heritage, contemporary art, and an agricultural setting that reinforces its appeal as a tourist destination. It has become a meeting point for those seeking cultural, gastronomic, and sustainable experiences beyond the coast.
The program will begin with an opening and performance by the MACVAC, the Vicente Aguilera Cerni Museum of Contemporary Art, which will kick off the day with a creative perspective. Throughout the event, there will be tastings of wines and products from the Plana de l’Arc, prepared by local wineries and producers who champion proximity farming and the region’s identity.
Music will also play a key role, with live performances culminating in a closing act featuring hip hop from Castellón — a proposal that connects the tradition of the olleta with the urban pulse of the new generations.
In addition to gastronomy and music, the festival offers activities for families to enjoy together. Throughout the day, visitors can take part in an urban gymkhana designed to discover the corners and secrets of Vilafamés in a playful way. Children will also have a special program of activities, including workshops and games that bring culture and the territory closer to them.
Participation in the activities is free, although tasting the olleta requires the purchase of advance tickets to control capacity and ensure a comfortable experience.
The Plana de l’Arc Product Club is behind this festival, which seeks to showcase the richness of the region with a sustainable approach. “Slow Moments wants every tasting, every musical note, and every corner discovered to become a memorable experience,” say the organizers.
With this initiative, the Plana de l’Arc strengthens its commitment to slow tourism, deeply connected to the territory and marked by the unmistakable flavor of the olleta — a dish that becomes both a symbol of identity and the perfect excuse to celebrate community.
